In a close game the California Gangsta Luv got by the St. Paul Saints by the
score of 9 to 7.
California tallied 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The critical plate appearance was by Hanley Ramirez who deflated the
spirits of the home town crowd when he cracked a two-run shot (his 10th of
the season). St. Paul threatened in the 9th but California was able to put
down the rally.
Dan Haren(6-4) allowed 5 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Takashi
Saito gained credit for his 5th save. Jarrod Washburn(5-8) suffered the
loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 innings of work.
Dave Scholes was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
